Donna Miller, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

Owner/ Doctor of Physical Therapy/ Orthopedic Certified Specialist/ Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Dr. Donna Miller graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Masters of Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class and received the award for General Excellence in Physical Therapy and the Graduate Honor Award. She earned her Post-Professional Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. Her doctoral work has been presented at the National Physical Therapy Conference and was published in the Journal of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in the spring of 2006. As a multi-specialty therapist, she has taken extensive course work focusing on pediatrics and orthopedics. She is recognized by the (APTA) as a Credentialed Clinical Instructor, and is presently taking classes to become a Certified Functional Manual Therapist. In 2007, Donna received her Advanced Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). In 2011 she was awarded the distinction of Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Donna believes in communication at all levels regarding patient care, and utilizes this ideology in her daily practice. Specializing in pediatric and orthopedic physical therapy, Donna brings a unique blend of manual and biomechanical emphasis to her patient care. She has treated a wide variety of general orthopedic and sports related problems, and has worked with patient populations including pediatrics, athletes and geriatrics. Donna enjoys lecturing for colleges, elementary schools and various organizations on Body Mechanics, Ergonomics, Pediatric Summer Safety, Scoliosis, and the benefit of physical therapy in the treatment of Autism. 

Colleen Thomas, PT, MS

Director of Rehabititation

Manual Physical Therapist / Master of Physical Therapy

Colleen enjoys working with a variety of people of different ages and abilities to assist them in getting back to the things they love to do. Colleen graduated with her Master's degree from Springfield College in 1998. Colleen’s approach to treatment includes a heavy emphasis on manual therapy, including soft tissue and joint mobilization, PNF techniques and therapeutic exercises. Her continuing education focuses on courses specific to manual therapy in an orthopedic setting. Fun fact, you will not only feel better, but you will get to relax and enjoy Colleen's musical entertainment while she treats you.

Mary Connors 

Office Manager / Insurance Authorizations 

Mary graduated from Maria College in 1991 with her associates as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) and also has her masters in health science from St Francis University. Mary’s experience includes working as a PTA, Rehabilitation Director, and Admissions Director in Florida nursing homes for over 28 years. She is a valuable asset in coordinating and  managing patient care. Her skills and experience in healthcare are invaluable with communicating with insurance companies for patients' physical therapy needs. 

Karly Cairo, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist / Certified Personal Trainer

Dr. Karly Cairo graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences and a Concentration in Informatics. She continued her education at Stony Brook University earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Karly received her Personal Training Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She thoroughly enjoys educating and encouraging clients to become more comfortable and confident with barbell and free weight strength training.  Karly utilizes a holistic approach to healing, combining manual therapy with biomechanics, mobility, and exercise to improve overall function and maintain those results to decrease risk of re-injury. 

Jenna Kennedy, PT, DPT

Jenna graduated from Gordon College in 2010 with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and was the captain of her college softball team there. She continued her education at Touro College earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2013 where she also met her husband, John.  Jenna enjoys working with all of our patients and seeing the results they achieve.  She has had a variety of experiences in her career from vestibular therapy to home care as well as outpatient sports physical therapy all of which she integrates into all her evaluations and treatment. When not working, Jenna is busy chasing around with her three children- Jack (7), Sophia (5) and Hailey (2) as well as serving on her school district’s PTA. Jenna loves the patients and the team at Proactive Care Physical Therapy.
